Slovakia vs. Finland 2-0 (0-0 2-0 0-0)

Slovakia was unable to stop a Finnish team that seems to be getting in good shape. Finland won the game 2-0.

Finland controlled the first period, however, the team was unable to find the back of the net. The main reason for Finland’s lack of scoring was Slovak goalkeeper Zuzana Tomcikovas’ excellent performance.

Finland opened the scoring early in the second period with a goal by Niina Mäkinen. The Finns then offered Slovakia a glimmer of hope with a spate of unnecessary penalties. However, Slovakia was unable to capitalize. Finland put the game beyond doubt with a goal by Karoliina Rantamäki in the dying minutes of the second period that remained the last goal of the game.
