ZURICH-KLOTEN – Lasse Kukkonen of the Philadelphia Flyers will join the Finnish national team on Monday.
Kukkonen, a 27-year-old Oulu native, played 22 games with the Flyers this season, collecting two assists. He also suited up 26 times for their farm team, the Philadelphia Phantoms, and picked up 11 assists.
Kukkonen's arrival also means that Finland will not register another defenceman, Teemu Aalto, to the tournament.
It will be his third World Championship after 2005-2007. He also represented Finland in the 2006 Olympics in Turin.
