COLORADO SPRINGS, United States – New Jersey Devils forward Zach Parise and defenceman Paul Martin were added to U.S. men's national team.
Parise, who led the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils with 65 points (32-23) in 2007-08, joins the national team for the third time, while Martin, who led the Devils' defensive corps with 32 points (5-27), will compete in his second IIHF World Championship.
With two gold medals in international competition, Parise has represented the United States on five previous occasions. He earned gold at the 2004 IIHF World U20 Championship and at the 2002 IIHF World U18 Championship. He has also competed in two IIHF World Championships (2005, 2007) and the 2003 IIHF World U20 Championship.
Martin has represented the United States in international competition on four previous occasions. He skated for Team USA at the 2005 IIHF World Championship, World Cup of Hockey 2004, 2004 Deutschland Cup and 2001 IIHF World U20 Championship.
USA Hockey also announced Paul Gaustad (Buffalo Sabres), who was previously added to the roster, will not be in Canada due to medical reasons.
