QUEBEC CITY, Canada – Canada will host the World Championship with one of the strongest lineups they’ve ever had at this tournament except during the lockout 2004-2005.
Just before the first practice in the Colisée Pepsi in Quebec City began, Hockey Canada added goaltender Mathieu Garon, defencemen Brent Burns and Ed Jovanovski and forwards Ryan Getzlaf, Dany Heatley, Chris Kunitz and Jason Spezza to the roster.
Canada’s roster is all but complete with three goalkeepers, five defencemen, 14 forwards and five more players, who are listed as alternate or training camp players. General Manager Steve Yzerman and his staff will be looking for more depth in the defence department.
While Canada is having the camp and exhibition games in Quebec City, they will play through the quarterfinals in Halifax. The World Championship begins on May 2.
