HALIFAX – Team Germany forward Florian Busch has been cleared by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to participate at the 2008 IIHF World Championship.

Busch was initially a controversial addition to the German roster after causing a stir in the German professional league when he refused a doping control on March 6.  A few hours later he changed his mind and submitted to the test, which came out negative.

The Eisbaren Berlin player was fined 5000 Euros for his initial decision to refuse the test. As of now, Busch has been cleared to play at the World Championship. WADA is the world governing body for anti-doping and has the final say in such matters.

Busch and his German teammates will open their championship on Saturday against Finland.
