ŠKODA is rolling out the star of its model offensive just in time for the 2012 IIHF WM: the ŠKODA Citigo will be available at European dealers from May 2012. Young, fresh, agile, offering excellent technology and toughness where that is needed, the first ŠKODA in the subcompact segment is certain to in over its fans. It will be shown to a multimillion-strong audience worldwide for the first time as a five-door version in chic candy white.

The ŠKODA Citigo had had an extremely successful debut in its Czech home market in late 2011 as a three-door version, immediately being chosen “Best city car” in the “2012 Car of the Year” contest.

Simultaneously with its European market debut in May 2012, the ŠKODA Citigo will be introduced to a worldwide mutlimillion-strong TV audience at the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship as a five-door version. ŠKODA’s latest addition to the subcompact segment will be unmissably on display right next to the ice rink at the WM arenas in Helsinki and Stockholm showing off its attractive design.

“This year we are presenting the Citigo as the new entry model of our brand,” says ŠKODA CEO Winfried Vahland. “It’s young, fresh, agile and comes with excellent technology, making it the new star of our model offensive. It will enable us to repeat our brand’s recent successes. At the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey WM our Citigo can put its best forward in front of a multimillion-strong audience.”

To win over ice hockey fans, there’s no doubt you need to be tough when it comes to body checking. This is yet another area where ŠKODA new city runabout shines: its exemplary safety concept won it a five-out-of-five star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test.
