Two spearing incidents, one involving Latvian forward Kaspars Daugavins in the Latvia-Norway match and the other coming from Italian forward Vincent Rocco during the Italy-Sweden game, came under review by the IIHF Disciplinary Committee.

Following hearings with both players, the panel chose to submit an official warning to Rocco and Daugavins for these incidents. In the case of a warning, heavier penalties could be issued if either player comes under review for the rest of the world championship.
