Hartwall Arena

Hartwall Arena will for the second year in a row host the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship games played in Helsinki.

During the World Championship, Arena doors will be opened for spectators 1.5 hours before the first game of the day. 


Fan Zone Hockey Garden, in front of the Arena, opens on Friday, May 3rd and offers lots to do before, between and after the games. Entrance to the area is free of charge also without a game ticket.

Action starts always two hours before the first game of the day and ends one hour after the last game has finished.

Hockey Garden is open to ticket holders as well as all others interested to experience the atmosphere at the game venue on all the game days. Hockey fans in all age groups are welcome to Hockey Garden and the minors can enter the restaurant accompanied by their parents - however after 20:30 the age limit in the restaurant area is 18 years.


Hockey Garden area offers for example:
- all games from Helsinki & Stockholm are shown on big screens
- DJ, in addition live music before Team Finland games
- Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame exhibition
- Activities for children: face painting, photo opportunity with official mascot, Icy, etc.
- Partner expo area
- Catering
- Official fan store (NEH)


Daily program will be available during the Championship. 

 

All ticket holders should reserve enough time for security checks.

Bags and other things are best left at home or in the car as storage is very limited inside the arena.

 

Dangerous or harmful objects, alcohol, drugs, and noise making items (such as vuvuzelas, clap-hands, inflatable sticks, mouth-horns, instruments etc). are forbidden inside and near the Arena and in the parking premises.

 

Recording or transmission of games is only allowed with equipment marked with an official sticker.

How to get there

The Hartwall Arena is conveniently located in Pasila, only a four-minute train trip from centre of Helsinki.

 

Public transportation is an easy and eco-friendly way to get to the venue.

 

Train is by far the easiest way to get to the Arena
All commuter and long-distance trains stop at Pasila railway station which is less than 10 minutes walk from the Arena. The train ride from centre of Helsinki to Pasila takes 4 minutes. The tunnel at the end of rail 5B leads to a 5-minute footpath to Hartwall Arena.

Buses & trams stop near the Arena as well
From the city centre buses 23 and 69 stop in front of YLE headquarters, a 10-minute walk from the arena. The bus trip from the city centre takes approximately 20-30.


Trams 7A & 7B stop at Pasila railway station. The tram ride takes approximately 20-30 minutes to Pasila from centre of Helsinki.

Taxi stand is located approx. 500 meters from the Arena
Taxi for the handicapped may leave and take passengers on the pavement in front of the Arena. Travel time from the centre of Helsinki is 15-30 minutes depending on the traffic.

 

Arrival by car


Visitors arriving in private cars should prepare for traffic jams before and after the games.


Arriving from north

The easiest way to reach Hartwall Areena is from the Lahti highway (E18). Take the exit at the Koskelantie crossing, continue right to Hakamäentie. You'll see Hartwall Arena on your left.

From the Tampere highway (E12) exit at Ruskeasuo, continue left to Hakamäentie, follow the signs and you'll see Hartwall Arena on your right hand side.

Arriving from south, center of Helsinki
Take Mannerheimintie, follow signs to Tampere (E18) and Pasila. Turn right at Hakamäentie. You'll see Hartwall Arena on your right hand side.

Parking at Hartwall Arena
At Hartwall Arena, parking fee (9€ per game) has to be paid in cash upon arrival.

Please note that private and chartered buses are not allowed to stop in front of Hartwall Arena. Parking and taking or leaving passengers takes place at the Käpylä sports field (Mäkelänkatu 70), approx. 650 meters from Arena.

 

Those coming with bicycles should note the limited space availability around the Arena. Good advice is to leave the bike a bit from the Arena and walk the rest.
