The Organizing Committee of the 2009 IIHF World Championship chose Frank Baumann, founder and owner of the communications agency, Wörterseh, to produce the TV clips. The clips feature the comedy duo, Lapsus. In a joint session, Baumann and Lapsus generated ideas for the clips in almost no time, "by very lively mutual inspiration", as Frank Baumann describes the teamwork.
The clips were then shot in August. In a single day's work, the Schlieren-based crew shot 15 video and 6 sound clips in three languages. Baumann is convinced that experience was a major benefit. "We were like a group of grandfathers, a senior citizens' collective", says the TV veteran who recently celebrated his 51st birthday. We sailed through the shooting, one thing simply led to the next. It flowed.
According to Baumann, the simple-looking clips were the most challenging ones to produce. Namely, the one with the pig and the one with the hen. Those two actors proved particularly hard to direct, compounded by each clip consisting of one single take.
Incidentally, the cantonal animal welfare authority had given prior approval to the crew to work with the two animal actors. Baumann says the pig was virtually pigging out on all the attention.
He and the Organizing Committee of the 2009 IIHF World Championship are convinced that the public will love the clips. As Baumann says, "They are unpretentious and unencumbered by glamour or sleek design. To me, they are so dumb that they are positively brilliant," (as he told "Werbewoche" magazine).
