Vladislav Tretiak  Close Biography
Born on April 25, 1952 in Orudievo, Russia. As a goalkeeper Tretiak won three Olympic gold medals (1972, 1976, 1984) and ten World Championships (1970-1971, 1973-1975, 1978-1979, 1981-1983) with the Soviet national team, and nine European Cups (1970, 1973-1975, 1978-1979, 1981-1983) and 13 Soviet championships (1970-1973, 1975, 1977-1984) with CSKA Moscow. He was acknowledged best goalkeeper of the century during the IIHF’s 100-year anniversary.

Tretiak was in the International Olympic Committee’s Athletes’ Commission between 1981 and 1991 and worked as a goalie consultant for the Chicago Blackhawks between 1991 and 2003. He was an assistant coach of the Russian national team at several occasions including the 1998 and 2002 Olympic Winter Games.

Tretiak has been a member of the Russian State Duma (parliament) since 2003. In 2006 he was elected President of the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia, a position he has held since.
