The International Ice Hockey Federation will proudly celebrate its 100-year anniversary during the 2007-2008 season. To celebrate this milestone, the IIHF is planning a celebration that will be remembered for the next 100 years.
On May 15 & 16, 1908 delegates from four countries met in Paris on the invitation of the French journalist Louis Magnus: Planque and van der Hoeven (France), de Clercq and Malaret (Belgium), Mellor and Dufour (Switzerland) as well as Mavrogrodato (Great Britain). Following a thorough debate, they established the "Ligue Internationale de Hockey sur Glace" (LIHG). Which would later become the IIHF.
The IIHF will honor this momentus occasion through the entire 2007-08 season, which will culmunate at the 2008 IIHF World Championship in Canada with activities for ice hockey lovers around the globe.
