The 1,500 additional tickets for the opening game of the 2010 IIHF World Championship between the Olympic silver medal winner USA and Germany, which were put on sale recently, were gone within hours. Only very few seats within some remaining hospitality packages are left now for the spectacular world record game.
"We could have sold the opening game twice" commented ticket manager Thomas Freyer on the enormous interest and explained: "We are most interested that none of the tickets remain unused. In order to ensure this, we are closely co-operating with the IIHF, participating federations and sponsors. Should any tickets be given back, we will put them on public sale immediately and will announce this to the media." The same refers to other of the much requested games. For the game Germany vs. Finland on May 10 in Cologne, only some very few tickets are left now. For the encounter between Denmark and Germany, also in Cologne on May 12, approximately 1,000 tickets are still available. The sales ranking for Mannheim is headed by the classic between Sweden and Czech Republic on May 13.
