Learn to Play Program

This year the Learn to Play Program has expanded to include 60 registered LTP Program Instructors. As such, and in order to maximize this opportunity to equip every participating National Association with as many tools and information as possible, the program’s been split in to Learn to Play Program 1 and Learn to Play Program 2. The overall program will consist of both on and off-ice practical examples, of which will include the participation of 140 local players between the ages of 5 & 10 years old.

  • Leadership & Communication
  • Jamboree Preparation
  • National Association Development Planning

Learn to Play Program 2 “Be World Leading”:

  • LTP Overview
  • Long Term Athlete Development Model Principles (U12 Focus)
  • Off-Ice Age Appropriate Training
  • Teaching Skills
  • Teaching Team Play through Small Area Games
  • Age Appropriate Goaltending
  • Game / Jamboree Organization
  • Long Term Athlete Development Model Principles (Next Steps)
  • Leadership, Mentorship & Art of Coaching
  • Jamboree Preparation
  • National Association Development Planning

Learn to Play Program instructors for both programs are also required to bring their own hard copies of the IIHF’s Learn to Play Program Manuals for their use and reference during the camp program.

Many of them should already have the manual in their own languages, but if not, you can download the English manual here.
