Heiner Brand

Heiner Brand recently at the news conference at SAP ARENA Mannheim: “Winning! Then it is going nicely” – no one knows better how it works. In 2007 he won the World Championship in his home country as national coach of the German handball team. Just this experience makes him an ideal ambassador of the 2010 IIHF World Championship, Germany. Before the WC in 2007 the German handball players were underrated as well: “We did not play so well in the beginning, but suddenly the audience caught fire”, remembers Heiner Brand. At their domestic WC the squad of Uwe Krupp counts on a similar effect.

Heiner Brand is one of the most successful German characters in handball. He is the only one ever, who had won the handball World Championship title as player (1978) and as trainer (2007).
